USPS offices to remain open on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve
The holidays are, without a doubt, one of the most hectic times of the year. But not only for consumers out shopping for gifts, but holiday card and package senders. Luckily for those saving holiday shipping until the last minute, the U.S. Postal Service will have it covered. Likewise, businesses that put off shipping can benefit from address verification software to ensure seamless delivery.
The USPS recently announced that its post offices across the nation will be open on both Christmas Eve - Monday, December 24 - and New Year's Eve - Monday, December 31. The agency said most offices will shorten retail lobby hours in order to close at noon.
Regular mail will be unaffected by the holiday hours, the USPS said. Additionally, pick-up at blue collection boxes with a final collection time before noon will not be delayed. However, the USPS will collect mail at blue box installations with a final collection time after noon only if mail is deposited before the posted deadline for early pick-up on December 24 and December 31.
Post offices will be closed for the holidays on Tuesday, December 25 for Christmas and Tuesday, January 1 for New Year's Day.
