USPS offers special picture permit promotion
Commercial mailers who utilize address validation software in their marketing campaigns might want to know the U.S. Postal Service is offering a special promotion for its Picture Permit Imprint Indicia service.
From Aug. 1 to Sept. 30, pre-approved mailers will have picture permit fees waived on First-Class Mail and Standard Mail letters and cards. Direct mail marketers who already save money using address validation can boost their brand's visibility through adding the company logo or related images to mailing pieces with the USPS service. Mailers need to be pre-approved to receive the promotion. Registration will start June 1 and mailers will be required to complete a four-step application process.
Gary Reblin, vice president of domestic products for the USPS, said the picture permit program offers companies a way to advertise their brand on marketing materials in a unique way.
"Dozens of our largest customers looking to increase brand awareness and increase the effectiveness of their mail have asked us to allow more creativity in the design of their permit indicia," Reblin said. "Permit indicia enhanced with logos, photos or other brand images increase the visual impact of the mail piece as well as its open rate and value."
