USPS launches holiday direct mail campaign
In a show of force that demonstrates the fight and vivacity of the direct mail industry, the U.S. Postal Service launched a large-scale mass mailing to inform consumers about the best holiday mail and package sending practices.
The USPS recently sent out 140 million copies of the 2012 Holiday Shipping and Mailing Guide to consumers. The mail campaign covers 143 ZIP code areas and of the 140 million guides, 10 million are written in Spanish. Considering the immense volume of the mailing, it wouldn't be a stretch to assume the agency relied on postal mailing software to ensure the accurate delivery of its investment.
"Everyone can use a little extra time around the holidays, with more choice and convenience to help manage their busy lives," said Nagisa Manabe, executive vice president at the USPS. "The Holiday Guide is one more way for us to connect with families to help them enjoy the best the season has to offer."
The guide is an eight-panel, colored, holiday-themed brochure that provides information about USPS products, services and features, as well as holiday shipping and mailing deadlines. The guide also includes a QR code that users can scan to receive tips and suggestions, showing direct mailing businesses that the USPS practices what it preaches.
