USPS introduces Hancher Auditorium pictorial postmark
The U.S. Postal Service recently announced a new pictorial postcard to commemorate University of Iowa's Hancher Auditorium, according to The Gazette in Iowa. An envelope was also was designed by graduate of the university and celebrity artist Nicolosi.
A landmark is remembered
The postmark will state the name of the auditorium and also include the souvenir envelope, signed by the artist and Iowa City Postmaster. Proceeds from the sale of the decorative envelopes will benefit Nicolosi and the postal service.
The University will hold a special ceremony for the new auditorium, as the original one was heavily damaged by rains in 2008. Although the new space has only entered initial phases of development, the event will still take place remembering those who died constructing the previous Hancher Auditorium. The postmark offers consumers an exciting way to receive unique mail and be a part of history. Direct mail marketing campaigns have even more to offer their customers with specialized postmarks. Stacy St. John, Iowa City Postmaster, spoke to The Gazette about construction of the new building.
"We were very excited to participate and to be a part of this very special occasion with the University of Iowa commemorating Hancher Auditorium," said St. John. "This is the five-year anniversary of losing Hancher so I think it's very special to see how far the city has come and the university has come in that short amount of time to rebuild."
As the USPS continues to come up with creative and innovative mailing ideas, direct mail campaign managers have much to benefit from the new products. Marketers can take advantage of their specialized stamp collections aimed at consumers. Address verification software can help reduce direct mail campaign costs by ensuring the right products reach the correct audience.
