USPS employees project longer delivery times
As the U.S. Postal Service continues to find ways to increase revenue and profits through plant consolidation, some postal workers are advising companies that longer delivery times may be on the horizon. In case delivery times are extended, address validation software will assist businesses in getting direct mail campaigns to reach consumers faster.
According to Texas-based ABC affiliate KLTV, the recent closure of a local USPS processing and distribution center has increased the delivery time of mail and postal employees advise this may become standard. USPS workers told the news source the plant closures will continue to affect consumers and companies utilizing the service by significantly raising the amount of time between when a piece of mail enters the system and when it is received by the consumer.
The postal employees advised consumers and companies using the service to ensure they are taking all available steps to help the USPS with the changes in mail volume, such as sending mailing materials in the morning instead of the afternoon or to utilize address validation software.
Address verification allows companies to send marketing materials right to customers, decreasing the chance of returned mail and preventing lost time for businesses.
