USPS continues its green initiatives
Green business has become an established trend in the United States in recent years, and the U.S. Postal Service is doing its part to cut down greenhouse gas emissions and the use of fuel.
The USPS recently released its latest sustainability report, which emphasized its dedication to applying green practices to mail delivery. The USPS is currently employing more than 8,000 walking routes, more than 60 bicycle routes and nearly 75,000 routes for which carriers deliver mail on foot after driving to neighborhoods.
“The Postal Service’s vision is to be a sustainability leader by building a culture of conservation throughout the Postal Service, and implementing sustainable business practices by engaging employees, customers, suppliers, mail service providers and federal peers,” said Thomas Day, chief sustainability officer for the USPS.
The USPS is also deploying vehicles that utilize compressed natural gas, ethanol, propane, bio diesel, hybrid and electric three-wheeled technologies.
Businesses across the United States can also do their part by becoming more green. By utilizing the benefits of address validation software, marketers will not have to waste paper through their direct mail marketing efforts by making sure mailings are sent to the right households and businesses.
