USPS.com a 24/7 holiday command center
Thanksgiving weekend proved Americans are using the internet for just about everything. Online sales for Black Friday topped $1 billion for the first time ever, and Cyber Monday was the biggest day for ecommerce in history. Sensing the shift to online, the U.S. Postal Service acted accordingly and has set up its website, usps.com, to be a 24/7 hub for holiday shipping and mailing. Technology works wonders for the agency, and it can do the same for direct mail senders in the form of address verification software.
U.S. consumers visited usps.com more than 400 million times last year alone. And with the hectic holidays in full swing, the USPS has made sure to direct customers to its website in a recent press release.
"This post office is always open, and with a click of your mouse, you can ship from your house - with free package pickup by our dedicated letter carriers," said Kelly Sigmon, vice president of channel access for the USPS.
Some of the online offerings on usps.com include Package Pickup - a free packaging courier service for customers using an expedited service like Priority Mail and Express Mail. The Click-N-Ship program is a one-stop headquarters that allows shoppers to pay for postage and print shipping labels. The Track and Confirm service is also particularly useful for consumers during the holiday shopping season.
