USPS announces partnership with UPS
Considering the competitive nature of today's mailing and shipping industry, it's a sight to behold when two of the world's largest companies in the industry announce a partnership. But that's exactly what's happened after the U.S. Postal Service and UPS shook hands and said they would work together on sustainability ventures. One way businesses can replicate the green focus is by using address verification software, which eliminates waste created by bad mailer delivery.
In a video, Patrick Donahoe, USPS postmaster general, and Scott Davis, CEO for UPS, said they had called the partnership "Blue and Brown Makes Green" - blue for the world's largest postal mail service, brown for the world's largest package deliverer and green for the desired sustainable effects the partnership will have.
The collaboration will see the two share sustainability data and other eco-friendly practices that will help the competitors reduce both consumer costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
"Our working relationship with UPS supports the [USPS'] goal to deliver mail at the lowest cost with minimal impact on the environment," Donahoe said. "It's a great template for how posts and private enterprises can work together to better serve customers, the planet and the bottom line."
