Canada Post stamps encourage pet adoption
Companies using address correction software when sending marketing materials through Canada Post can now raise awareness about shelter animal adoption in their direct mail campaigns.
Canada Post recently partnered with the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies (CFHS) to produce a collection of stamps promoting the welfare of shelter animals. Each of the five stamps in the collection depict a different type of pet. Dogs, cats and parrots are represented in the stamp series and Danielle Trottier, project design manager, used current shelter animals as the models.
"We thought it was really important for this stamp to show not just a dog, but Captain or Wrinkles – allowing collectors and mailers to have a more intimate, interactive experience with the pet," Trottier said.
The stamps portray the animals in their ideal homes, as Trottier wished to bring a positive message across within the collection.
Canada Post hopes that calling attention to the treatment of animals will motivate the public to adopt more shelter animals. Marketers sending direct mail to Canadian customers can do their own part in helping raise awareness when using the stamp collection on mail pieces.
