USPS using Customer Advisory Councils to gain valuable input and make changes
The U.S. Postal Service is consistently striving to improve its operations, which is why the agency is now asking all Cape Girardeau, Mo. residents to take part in a local advisory council.
For nearly 20 years, the USPS has been inviting members of the public to take part in its Customer Advisory Councils, and now the practice is coming to Missouri. The council is compromised of local citizens. Gabrielle Garrean, acting manager of marketing for the USPS Mid America District, confirmed the members were chosen by how well they represented the cross-sections of the city.
"We want a good feel for our customer base," Garrean added.
The advisory council hopes to provide a forum for customers wanting to communicate with their local post office. The council members will be there to listen to any concerns or suggestions attendants may have. The postal officials on hand will also be answering questions and offering more in-depth looks at rules and procedures.
The USPS has seen success with similar councils in the past, which is why the agency has also introduced a similar group in Springfield - more than 250 miles west of Cape Girardeau. The situation is very much the same in the city, with citizens and postal officials planning to gather regularly in an attempt to address issues specific to the area.
It's a tumultuous time for the USPS, but the agency has been working hard to keep up with customer demands, and so should you. Match pace with the post office's efforts and invest in mailing software. Ensure address integrity and postal reports, all while streamlining operations with automated options for tedious tasks like presorting mail.
