According to industry experts, new technology has changed the printing sector, with tools such as web-to-print gaining popularity.
In a recent column for the Digital Nirvana, Nicole Schappert writes that in addition to aiding those in the direct mail sector, the new programs have also helped with a number of different marketing outreach efforts. She adds that having the right finish on these materials will make them stand out from the crowd.
"The range of substrates that can run through the digital press needs to be a key consideration in making the digital decision," she writes. "Marketers view the paper as one opportunity for their target audience to hold the firm's identity in their hands. This rare and intimate occasion can vastly influence the recipient's perception of the organization."
While including the right content in a piece of printed marketing material is vital, giving it the right look and feel can be equally important. Prior to making a financial commitment to the printed material, make sure to look at samples from competitors to see which ones look best.
