Web to print and marketing services support the printing industry
Web to print software and solutions are on the rise among marketers as an affordable and accessible way to print direct mail campaigns. While certain aspects of the printing industry decline, digital printing and marketing service providors continue to report growth and are set to support the industry well into the future.
According to data from the Printing Industries of America, digital printing grew 17.4 percent between 1998 and 2010. During that same time, the overall printing industry saw a decline of 2.9 percent. Printers have also taken on additional services, such as marketing, and have seen strong gains as a result. The new strategies assisted printers during the recession as many traditional publishing materials like magazines and newspapers changed to digital formats or dropped out of the industry altogether.
Ronnie Davis, vice president for the Printing Industries of America, previously said that although the printing industry may see a future reduction in the number of facilities, it will become increasingly specialized in certain elements of the market, according to Printing Impressions.
"The key conclusion ... there can be a very positive future for print and printers," Davis said. "Today's printers that are aware of the emerging industry environment and crucial business strategies and tactics have a very bright future."
