Event brings together direct mail marketing professionals
Last month, an annual event in New York City brought together direct marketing professionals to share ideas and attend educational seminars.
The Direct Marketing Association recently held its All for One: The Integrated Marketing Summit. This year, the event organizers tried to link together traditional forms of marketing with emerging technologies, including mobile phones, to underscore the importance of multichannel marketing.
DMA CEO Larry Kimmel said that its own that even the organization had been changing the way it advertised its services.
“We were far too promotional in our messaging,” he said. “We decided to go old school and started calling 300 to 400 members each day, saying, "'These things are available to you, and they may interest you.' Direct marketing is not a channel-centric strategy... It's whatever works best.”
According to its website, the Direct Marketing Association DMA was founded in 1917 and gives guidance to the marketing industry, helping them identify how to reach consumers in an the most effective ways. It represents companies from the United States and 48 other countries,, many of which rely on address verification software.
