PressWise - the easiest way to print and deliver in the cloud
PressWise offers simple pay-as-you-go pricing and no long-term service contracts are required. It is offered in several different packages, depending on your requirements. Most customers use the Full, or Standard, Edition of the product, which comes with Web2Ship Storefronts, Print Estimating and Quoting, Order Management, Production Management and the Shipping & Fulfillment modules as standard.
The Mailers Edition also includes the powerful Mail Processing module to allow you to run mailing jobs in-house instead of handing them to other shops to fulfill. Each version comes with a 10-user license as standard, and an unlimited amount of Customer Accounts, Storefronts, Orders and Templates.
For those customers that already use a third-party storefront solution (such as Order Desk from OPS for example), but are looking for a robust MIS system, we also offer PressWise without our Web storefront component. PressWise offers full support for most third-party web storefront solutions.
What Our Customers Think
Customers love how easy it is to get up-and-running with PressWise and the instant, positive impact it has on their business. We asked a few of them to give us their feedback on the product. Here's what they had to say:
Susan Moore, Co-founder and President, DPI
DPI provides various storefront technologies to its customers to drive print on demand on digital presses for point of sale, direct mail, marketing collateral and other short-run work. Moore tells us that DPI originally leveraged PressWise’s open architecture to integrate their print operation with a wide range of storefronts, but are now beginning to use PressWise to handle ad hoc orders as well so that all orders come in through the same workflow.
“Following that, and as the MIS portion of the PressWise solution gets more robust, we will migrate from our legacy MIS and use PressWise for that purpose as well” said Moore.
For DPI, prior to implementing PressWise, a typical order consumed as much as three hours of cumulative administrative time.
“In order to scale our business, we needed to eliminate as many touches as possible and streamline that workflow. With orders ranging from $5 to several thousand dollars, an average administrative cost of $105 per order was clearly not sustainable.”
Today, all orders flow through PressWise, and using its automation features, are queued directly into production.
“There is no way we could handle 3,000 to 4,000 orders per day without this automation. You could throw people at it, but you you can’t manage that type of volume using a manual process. As a result of implementing PressWise, and the expansion plans we have for the future as its capabilities continue to grow, we now have a fully automated production flow, a scalable business model, and we are well on our way to fully implementing Lean Manufacturing. This is the way businesses in our industry need to run. And it is the only way to do business for the long term.”
Greg Wood, President, Image Reproduction
ImageRepro is a small, all-digital company with a production platform consisting of HP Indigo, Canon monochrome and large format capabilities. Located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, ImageRepro primarily services regional companies with national and global exposure.
“Workflow automation was what attracted us to PressWise,” explains Wood. “Most of our business comes to us through our Printable web-to-print solution, which we have been using for about four years. We were looking for a solution that could integrate not only with our Printable web-too-print solution, but with our other systems as well as incorporate our wide format production. Our investigation revealed that PressWise was the best match for our needs.”
As jobs enter the system, they are automatically handed off to PressWise for preflighting, file downloading, imposition, job ticket preparation, and entry into the production queue. Manual intervention occurs only on an exception basis. For ImageRepro, implementation of PressWise resulted in an estimated annual savings of nearly $45,000 in addition to speeding jobs through the system faster.
“Taking into consideration first-year implementation and operational costs for PressWise,” Wood says, “this system paid for itself in about 4 ½ months.”
Wood isn’t stopping there in his quest to continually improve operational efficiencies:
“We will be migrating some of our customers to the PressWise storefront,” he says, ‘and are looking forward to integrating PressWise with QuickBooks to streamline the order-to-invoicing process. Finally, we will be looking into utilizing the MIS components of PressWise, which appear to meet our needs more closely than the third-party MIS solution we are currently using. With all of these changes in place, our staff will be more efficient, our operation will be set to scale without the need for new employees, and our customers will benefit from faster turn times and improved customer service. This is truly a win/win situation.”
Ian Flynn, President, Direct Response Imaging
Direct Response Imaging (DRI) is a 5-year-old digital Quick Printing company. The firm owns two Kodak NexPress digital presses, has a full bindery, and uses Four51 as its web-to-print solution. They had been looking for a print MIS system to replace their manual estimating-to-invoice process, but had serious reservations about each of the systems they looked at, for one reason or another.
“Key factors in our decision process included price, features, the fact that PressWise operates as a SaaS model, and also the frequent and very responsive updates SmartSoft deploys, with new features being added all the time."
Now, about 90% of orders received are handled through PressWise. Once a job is received, an estimate is created in PressWise, which officially originates the job. From there they link the art to it and the job proceeds through the system with minimal interaction needed.
“Each job now consumes an average of 20 minutes of administrative labor. This results in an annual savings of about $45,000. While we do still use a paper job ticket, we could—and likely will—eliminate that, resulting in even more savings."
Flynn believes PressWise paid for itself in about three months, and continues to deliver savings and productivity improvements beyond that point. This calculation takes into consideration administrative time savings only. It does not factor in the many additional timesaving features related to automatic imposition and web site templates. Factoring in those savings presents an even rosier ROI picture.
