Did you know that postal addresses are often assigned before a proposed office building or new home is ever built?

The Early Warning System (EWS) was created by the United States Postal Service^® (USPS) as another step towards increased address accuracy. The system is used to prevent Accumail Gold from making changes to an address that may actually be new construction and has not been added to the USPS^® ZIP + 4^® database.

Accumail Gold checks for an address in the EWS data file in the normal address correction process. If Accumail Gold identifies an address in the EWS file, you are notified with this message: "The Early Warning System indicates that an exact match will become available in the next database update." As a result, Accumail Gold does not append the address changes it would normally make to correct the address. This measure of protection prevents a broken address, which may be undeliverable or end up as a false positive.

The Early Warning System file is updated weekly to assure you of the most current information available from the USPS^®.

The Early Warning System agent automatically checks for to the EWS file. The old, outdated files are automatically updated with the current EWS file.
